[Guide] Speeding up the Raspberry Pi

Recommended Posts

The Raspberry Pi is currently very slow.

Here are a few tips to speed it up.

Overclocking

Try these overclocking settings

over_voltage=6

arm_freq=1000

New Memory Card

Try a new class 10 memory card such as this:

Transcend 8gb Class 10 SD card (confirmed working)

Software

Try using lightweight browsers such as midori instead of firefox.

Archlinux is also a very lightweight linux distribution and may be faster

I've only heard that the 512mb version is a little more stable.

I didnt have any problems with the above settings though on my 256mb version

The 512mb version only needs about two thirds of the power the Model 256mb version draws, so it's the perfect base for projects that need to be powered by batteries or solar cells. And its better options for sip clients.
