  1. Currently running Xastir with a Pi-TNC and Baofeng UV-B5 for APRS
  2. It came yesterday. Much snappier than the B+. So far, nothing I have thrown at it has bogged it down!
  3. I have 5 pi's. Everyone is experiencing the same issue... If my router is rebooted, the wireless connection never comes back up. I have tried different brands of the recommended WiFi dongles, looked online for answers and nothing. Also after a while of being up, the wireless will disconnect as well... Anyone else experienced this and possibly found a fix?
  4. You may need a powered hub. A lot of USB keyboards draw more current than the pi can provide. Check out the recommended hardware list to see if your keyboard/mouse are listed as working or not.
  5. Yep. I have expanded it with 4 channels of 0-10v for LED control, 8 channel ADC for input with 1 channel set up for a PH probe, expanded IO to 32 channels, 8 I'm using for relays. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. Bad WiFi dongle Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  7. But when the network drops, you can't use putty for command line options... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  8. Mine is headless. I'll move it into the office with a KB and monitor and give it a shot Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  9. USB 3.0 isn't supported on the Pi. It's only USB 2.0 and any 3.0 devices you connect will only run in 2.0 mode Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  10. you need to use a serial to OBDII chip for the interface. Ot providea thw proper handshakes, baud rates etc and the pi talks to it at one speed. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  11. Having an issue with my original 256M model "B". I am running the latest raspbian, updates are all up to date, rpi-update at latest level. Using the wifi dongle I bought thru the RS. It will randomly drop wifi. Never picks it back up until after reboot. Nothing in syslog. Unit is only about 30 feet from the router, and I have replaced the router. I have a second pi, brand new 512M model " B" rev 2. Same dongle, no issues. I have swapped dongles and the older pi still has the issue. I have downloaded and written the image fresh to the SD card (also purchased thru RS) and I still have the same issues. Every time I have to power it off and back on, the /boot partition of the card is corrupt. It wont reboot. If I pull it out and put in my linux machine and do a fsck.vfat -y, if finds bad file descriptors. I can then mkfs.vfat, copy rhe boot files back.over and its again good. If I swap this sd card to the new Pi, I have no issues at all. I am not over clocking, and it's not the power supply. I am using a 600w pc power supply and voltage to the pi is a steady 5.1V. On an oscilloscope, it is smooth, no noise, no spikes. I removed the emmc_pll_clock=0 in config.txt on the advice of another Pi owner. No difference. Thanks Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  12. Have one of my Pi's set up controlling my Saltwater reef tank. I'm using an 8 channel 5V relay board similar to the Sainsmart board. I built my own driver board that is controlled by the Pi's GPIO. it is currently keeping the temperature of the tank between 77 and 77.5 Degrees F. using a Dallas DS-18B20 one wire temp sensor. It also displays the current time and tank temp on the PiTFT display. It controls GPIO 17 to toggle the heater on and off. GPIO's 18.22.and 23 control my lights. Moon lights, Actinic Lights and Daylight lights. each on their own schedule. my next couple projects are to create a web interface to use to remotely be able to set times/temps, An interface on the PiTFT to have the same functionality, and a feed function. when I want to feed the fish it will turn off the powerheads, pumps and skimmer for a fixed interval of 10 minutes, then automatically restarts them all.
  13. I'm currently doing it. I'm running XBMC and running Xastir for ham radio as well. Just have the init scripts start the 2nd app as well... Thinking of adding more stuff as well. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  14. Sorry. "Vgcencmd" Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
